Drama As Aluko Storms Ekiti State University For Pensioners’ Verification



There was drama at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti on Thursday as the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary, Dr. Temitope Aluko, showed up for the ongoing verification exercise of pensioners in the institution.
Aluko stormed the University’s Pension Office where he was attended to by officials responsible for the exercise.

The former Head of Department of Business Administration in the University displayed his EKSU 2016 Pensioner’s Verification Certificate to reporters and others present.

DAILY POST observed that Aluko’s pensioner’s number is 158 with his Year of Retirement being 2010.

172 Make First Class At Unimaid 22nd -25th Combined Convocation

University of Maiduguri will be honouring 172 graduates who made First Class, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, has said.

Briefing journalists ahead of the joint convocation and 40th anniversary
of the university billed to hold next Saturday, Njodi explained that the 172 exceptional students graduated between 2010 and 2015 but would be honoured at a joint convocation covering the time.

He said: “The university will finally hold its 22nd convocation and 40th anniversary for the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates.

The World Bank, it was learned, has used its template that it applies globally to help the federal authorities identify the poor and needy in the eight states while work is said to be in progress in other states of the federation.

We Will Complete Ajasa-command Road In Five Weeks- Ambode



Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday evening said the Ajasa-Command Road in Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) area of the State would be completed in the next five weeks, just as he assured that the Abesan Estate link road connecting Aboru from Agbelekale would equally be completed before the end of the year.

Governor Ambode, who gave the assurance while on an unscheduled inspection tour of on-going projects around the axis, said the dual carriage Ajasa-Command Road would be completed with functional street lights, drainage system, walkways and road median.

Reps Angry As Dogara, Jibrin, Others Inject N40b Projects Into Budget


The impasse over the 2016 Budget assumed a rowdy dimension in the House of Representatives with members demanding the resignation of the
Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.

They were furious that Jibrin influenced the allocation of projects worth N4.169billion to his constituency outside what was budgeted by the Executive.

Also, members opposed allocation of N40billion( at N20b a piece) to those in the leadership of both the Senate and the House.

Privatization Of Refineries Best Solution To Recurring Fuel Scarcity, Former Presidential Candidate Tells FG


A former presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Rafiu Salau, has said the privatization of the nation’s refineries was the best solution to the recurring problem of fuel scarcity in the country.
Efforts to privatize the refineries in Warri, Kaduna and Port Harcourt by the government suffered setbacks in the recent past as labour unions, specifically NUPENG and PENGASSAN, vowed to resist the move, instead calling for a complete turn-around of the refineries.

FG Denies Reports Of $50m Ransom Demand For Chibok girls


The Federal Government on Sunday debunked media reports that Boko Haram is demanding $50 million from it as ransom before releasing the abducted Chibok school girls.
According to the report, the radical Islamist sect purportedly showed a video clip of some of the Chibok girls to government intermediaries, in which the girls affirmed that they are being well taken care of and have not been sexually abused.
