Abraj Kudai: World's biggest hotel to be built in Mecca, Saudi Arabia

The world's largest luxury hotel is set to open in Mecca in 2017.
With a total site area of approximately 60,000 square meters, the Abraj Kudai will include 10,000 bedrooms, 70 restaurants, four helipads and five floors for the sole use of the Saudi royal family.

The luxurious complex modeled on a "traditional desert fortress," will house 12 towers atop a 10-story podium, which contains a bus station, food courts, a shopping mall, conference center and an extravagant ballroom.

With around 2 million pilgrims visiting Mecca annually, the crowning feature of the holy city aims to cater to the increasing needs of the pilgrims.
The hotel amounting to $3.5 billion is funded by the Saudi Ministry of Finance and designed by the Dar Al-Handasah group.
"The five-star towers offer all related services for the visitors of the Holy Kaaba. Lower levels close to the Holy Haram area are used as commercial venues, thus ensuring immediate and easy access for the Haram visitors," the Dar Al-Handasah group website said.
