Governor Ayo Fayose and the Ekiti State chapter of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) have disagreed on his performance in office
in the last one year.
Fayose, who assumed office on October 16, 2014 maintained that his performance has been “satisfactory”.
The APC, however, had a different perception of Fayose’s first year
in office, saying it has been nothing but the “celebration of reversal
of fortunes” for the people.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital yesterday, Fayose insisted
that he had done creditably well in office, despite the state’s
financial challenges.
“I have said that I will leave no project uncompleted during my
four–year term. It is my duty to ensure that all Ekiti residents enjoy
the dividends of democracy.
“Though, we have paucity of funds and within the little resources we
have, I think I have satisfied my conscience and done creditably well”,
the governor said.
Speaking earlier on a radio programme, he said: “Amid these
challenges, we are not doing badly, it has been tough, we have been
financially handicapped and we had security challenges.
“It has not been easy but God is with me. With the new bailout received, Ekiti debt now extends to 2036.
“I want to say that administrations that will come after should not commit the state to debts they cannot offset.
“When I left office the last time, I left N10.4 billion, and I inaugurated many projects.
“But despite these financially challenges, I have been able to inaugurate many projects with many others also ongoing.
“We have done our best within the scope of limited resources available to us”.
